In the heart of Melbourne’s leafy suburb of Bentleigh, a 90s townhouse awaited a transformation that would work with the original constraints and conditions, whilst updating the interior for contemporary living. Our lovely clients, seeking a cohesive and refreshed home, entrusted us wholeheartedly with this vision.
We began by reimagining the main living areas, introducing custom joinery that not only provided functional storage but also became a focal point of design. We love the moveable rattan sliding doors that effortlessly hide the television when not in use, and provide shelving for styling moments, sentimental pieces, objects and books. The floors were re-sanded to reveal their natural beauty and remove decades of yellowing stain, setting a refreshed foundation for the interiors. A palette of sage green was thoughtfully selected, bringing a sense of calm and connection to nature. This hue flowed seamlessly through the spaces, complemented by curated artwork and bespoke upholstery that reflected the family’s personality. The main bedroom was completely transformed with a new floor plan, wool carpet laid, sage green paint, and a custom ledge, upholstered bedhead, and new wardrobe designed especially to suit the space. A relatively tricky floor plan due to the windows and two internal doors, we have been able to make the room feel larger and more organised by removing the floating internal wall that hid the messy walk-in robe.
Our approach was holistic—integrating existing cherished pieces with new elements to create a home that feels both familiar and new. The result is a space that balances form and function, tailored to the evolving needs of an adult family.
This project exemplifies our commitment to intentional design, collaboration with local artisans, and creating homes that tell a story.
